A child is pure potential

A child should never experience the violence of war or struggle in the aftermath of a disaster.
Sadly, I have seen firsthand that it is children who suffer most during conflicts — like those raging in Congo and Sudan — and in the aftermath of crises — like the earthquake in Haiti. There are a lot of children in these crises but not a lot of childhood.
That is why the International Rescue Committee goes to war and disaster zones with specialized expertise to rescue children and help them regain normal lives. A cornerstone of Mobile Pediatric’s work helping children heal, feel safe and realize their full potential is education.
